Bamara is proud to announce that we have been awarded contracts by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations to deliver Workforce Australia Services as a Specialist – First Nations provider in the Cairns and Townsville Employment Regions.

Commencing 1 July 2025, we will provide tailored, culturally safe, and community-led employment services for First Nations participants under the Workforce Australia Enhanced Services model.

These new contracts reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting economic participation, social empowerment, and sustainable employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As a proud Aboriginal-owned organisation, we understand the importance of embedding cultural integrity in every aspect of service delivery.

Our trusted and proven approach will continue to underpin all engagement, ensuring each participant receives personalised support that responds to their aspirations and to help them prepare for, find and keep a job.

Our service approach in Cairns and Townsville will include:

  • Culturally competent mentoring and career planning
  • Connection to locally relevant training and employment opportunities
  • Support to overcome non-vocational barriers such as transport, housing, health, and digital exclusion
  • Strong collaborations with local employers, Traditional Owner groups, and community organisations.

Bamara CEO Lesley Zarb welcomed the opportunity to expand Bamara’s impact across North Queensland.

“We are honoured to have been selected to deliver First Nations Specialist services in Cairns and Townsville,” said Lesley.

“This achievement is a reflection of the strong community trust we have built and the dedication of our staff—many of whom are First Nations themselves—to walk alongside participants as they pursue meaningful and lasting employment.”

“Our approach is grounded in respect, connection, and cultural strength. We are committed to ensuring that every person who comes through our doors feels seen, heard, and supported.”

This milestone builds on Bamara’s expanding national footprint and marks a new chapter in our mission to deliver employment services that reflect the strength and resilience of First Nations communities.
