The Bamara team has been busy this past week with the opening of two new services hubs in Coonamble and Moree.

First, on 10 September, we hosted the official opening of our new Disability Support Services Hub in Coonamble, a dedicated space to access support and services for NDIS participants.

The event began with a beautiful Smoking Ceremony and a Welcome to Country from Traditional Aboriginal Owners, followed by a special appearance from our Owner and NRL Great, David Liddiard OAM, cutting the ribbon to kick off the celebrations.

We held our second opening of the week on 11 September with the new Bamara Moree services hub.

The Moree hub provides participants and their families access to local support and services, including NDIS Disability Support Services and the Driver Licensing Access Program (DLAP).

Highlights of the opening event were an incredibly moving Welcome to Country from proud Gomeroi man, Alf Priestly, and powerful insights and moving speeches from David Liddiard OAM and our CEO Lesley Zarb on community spirit and lived experience.

“This is such a beautiful spot. I love coming to Moree and love this community. This hub is a special spot, and we want to utilise it the best way we can,” David said.

“The NDIS is very close to my heart. I have a child on the spectrum with an intellectual disability, so I know what this service (NDIS) can do for us as parents,” Lesley said.

Delicious sausage sizzles were served up with help from our friends at AbCare, who helped prepare an awesome BBQ.

These new hubs provide a homely and social environment for people to improve their skills, get involved in various community activities and live more independently.

Thanks to our friends, community partners, supporters, families, and everyone who helped make the events memorable and joined us in our celebrations.
