Throughout NAIDOC Week (5 – 12 July 2026), Bamara teams across New South Wales, Northern Territory, and Queensland proudly joined local communities in celebrating this year’s theme: 50 Years of Deadly.
From community marches and family fun days to cultural ceremonies, sporting events and expos, our teams embraced opportunities to connect, celebrate and strengthen relationships across the communities we support.

Alice Springs, NT
The Bamara team in Alice Springs proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week by attending the Alice Springs Show on 3-4 July and the Mparntwe NAIDOC Community Day on 6 July.
Staff from our Transition to Work, Parent Pathways and Inclusive Employment Australia teams connected with community members, families and local stakeholders, sharing information about Bamara’s services while strengthening local relationships and celebrating the achievements and culture of First Nations peoples.
Armidale, NSW
Our Parent Pathways team in Armidale enjoyed a busy week of NAIDOC celebrations, attending several community events across the region.
The team attended the Armidale NAIDOC Services Expo at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre & Keeping Place on Tuesday 7 July, where they connected with local families and service providers.
Later in the week, the team partnered with Pathfinders at the 3-on-3 Basketball Carnival on Thursday 9 July, running a temporary tattoo activity for young people, before finishing the week at the Armidale NAIDOC Week Community and Family Day at Curtis Park on Friday 10 July, which featured a flag raising ceremony, community march, smoking ceremony and family activities, including our bookmark making activity.
Cairns, QLD
Our Workforce Australia Services and Inclusive Employment Australia teams joined thousands of community members at Friday in the Park, hosted by the Cairns NAIDOC Committee on Friday 3 July.
With beautiful weather and an estimated crowd of 15,000 people, the event showcased live performances, Indigenous businesses, cultural celebrations and entertainment, providing a fantastic opportunity for our teams to connect with the Cairns community throughout NAIDOC Week.
Darwin, NT
Our Parent Pathways team from the Casuarina office celebrated NAIDOC Week by attending two vibrant community events.
The week began at the Deadly Cup Carnival at Richardson Park on 5 July, where approximately 2,400 community members came together to celebrate culture, connection and community. The grounds were filled with families catching up, children playing with smiles on their faces, Elders sharing stories, and people connecting with local health and community services.
The team also attended the Danila Dilba Family Day at Karu Park on Tuesday 7 July, enjoying a day celebrated through health promotion stalls, sporting activities, games, food and family-friendly entertainment while connecting with the local community.
Dubbo, NSW
The Dubbo team celebrated NAIDOC Week by attending community events across the region, connecting with local families and celebrating First Nations culture.
Our Dubbo Opportunity Hub (DHUB) and Driver Licensing Access Program (DLAP) teams attended the Dubbo Community NAIDOC Celebration at Victoria Park on Monday 6 July, where they engaged with community members and shared information about Bamara’s services. Later in the week on Friday 10 July, the team also attended Community NAIDOC Day at Talbragar Reserve, hosted by the Dhubu-gu Local Aboriginal Land Council, continuing to strengthen relationships across the local community.
Hastings, NSW
Our Inclusive Employment Australia team attended the Hastings NAIDOC Family Fun Day at Wauchope Showground, hosted by the Port Macquarie-Hastings NAIDOC Committee on Friday 10 July.
The event brought together local families, community organisations and service providers for a day of cultural celebration, entertainment and activities, giving the team a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community throughout NAIDOC Week.
Innisfail, QLD
Our Workforce Australia Services team joined the Innisfail NAIDOC March, organised by Mamu Health Service, on Wednesday 8 July.
Thankfully the rain stayed away as the community marched from Dave Dunbar Park to Warrina Lakes, where attendees enjoyed community stalls, activities and performances from local First Nations dance groups. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for the team to celebrate alongside the community and connect with local families.
Moree, NSW
The Bamara team in Moree welcomed participants, families and community members to their NAIDOC Week Morning Tea on Wednesday 8 July.
Guests enjoyed a cuppa, delicious food and cake while children took part in arts and crafts activities and lucky door prizes. The event created a welcoming space for the community to come together, celebrate NAIDOC Week and strengthen local connections.
Mount Isa, QLD
Our Parent Pathways Community Connector, Sharnelle, celebrated NAIDOC Week by attending Playgroup in the Park on Monday 6 July, where local families, playgroups and community services came together to connect.
Children participated in a collaborative art activity, painting the Aboriginal flag on their hands before adding their handprints to a canvas that will be proudly displayed in the Mount Isa Parent Pathways office.
Later in the week on Friday 10 July, the Parent Pathways, Inclusive Employment Australia and Workforce Australia Services teams attended the Mob FM Family Fun Day following the NAIDOC March, joining hundreds of community members and local organisations at the Civic Centre Lawns to celebrate culture, community and connection.
Newcastle, NSW
Our Newcastle Corporate team joined the Awabakal Newcastle NAIDOC March and Festival on Monday 6 July, celebrating alongside the community with live music, traditional dance, food and community stalls along the foreshore.
To wrap up the week, the team also hosted an internal NAIDOC Week potluck on Friday 10 July, coming together to share food, connect and enjoy a yarn.
Nowra, NSW
Our team attended the Shoalhaven NAIDOC Family Fun Day at Nowra Showground, hosted by the Shoalhaven NAIDOC Committee, on Wednesday 8 July.
The team engaged with local families through a river rock painting activity while enjoying a day filled with cultural performances, entertainment and community activities, celebrating the spirit of NAIDOC Week alongside the Shoalhaven community.
Tamworth, NSW
Our Parent Pathways and Inclusive Employment Australia teams in Tamworth embraced a full week of NAIDOC celebrations across the region.
The week began with the Tamworth NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday July 6 before the team attended the Quirindi Family Fun Day and the NAIDOC Touch Football Day on Wednesday 8 July, where young people, community organisations and families came together for a fun and inclusive day of sport and connection.
The celebrations concluded at the Tamworth NAIDOC Family Fun Day on Friday 10 July following the community march, providing another opportunity to engage with local families and celebrate First Nations culture and achievements.
Townsville, QLD
Our Inclusive Employment Australia, Parent Pathways and Workforce Australia Services teams proudly represented Bamara throughout Townsville’s NAIDOC Week celebrations.
On Wednesday 8 July, the team attended the Townsville NAIDOC Corporate Breakfast as Platinum Sponsors of this significant and important event.
The teams also attended the Townsville Deadly Day Out on Friday 10 July, joining thousands of community members for one of the week’s biggest events featuring a march from Kirwan High School to Riverway Parklands, cultural performances, market stalls, community organisations, live entertainment and activities for all ages.
Our team hosted a face-painting activity for children, with a constant stream of eager young attendees lining up throughout the day to join in the fun, creating a vibrant and engaging space for families to connect with Bamara.
Tweed, NSW
Our Inclusive Employment Australia team attended the NAIDOC Sports and Community Expo at Arkinstall Park on Wednesday 8 July.
The event brought together local organisations, sporting groups and community members to celebrate NAIDOC Week, providing the team with a great opportunity to connect with the community while celebrating First Nations culture, achievements and resilience. The team also hosted a rock painting activity, where children and families enjoyed getting creative and connecting through art as part of the day’s celebrations.
