Celebrating the graduates of the Job Ready Regional Industry Training Program

On Friday 24 July, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of eight dedicated Transition to Work participants, who graduated from the nine-week Job Ready Regional Industry Training Program.

The graduation brought together representatives from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), the Centre for Appropriate Technology, Services Australia, local employers and community partners, alongside the graduates’ family and friends, to recognise the participants’ hard work and celebrate their achievements.

The program was delivered in collaboration between the Centre for Appropriate Technology and Bamara, and funded by the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training.

The training was designed to introduce Job Seekers to employment opportunities in Rural Operations, Basic Engineering, and civil construction with hands-on practical and theoretical industry training.

Over the past nine weeks, our team watched this group grow in confidence, capability, and initiative.

As they developed new skills, they also formed strong bonds, encouraging and motivating one another every step of the way. Before long, those shared experiences had grown into genuine friendships.

Each participant courageously shared their story, aspirations and challenges, finding their voice throughout the journey. It was inspiring to see every individual step outside their comfort zone and embrace new opportunities.

The group now leaves the program equipped with practical industry skills, renewed confidence, a strong support network, and lifelong friendships.

Beyond employment readiness, every participant has also taken important steps towards independence through their driving journey. Some have earned their learner licence, while others are building their confidence behind the wheel through driving lessons as they prepare for their provisional licence test.

Best of all, every graduate has secured employment, marking an incredible outcome and a testament to the hard work and determination each participant showed throughout the program.

While these participants have worked hard to reach the end of this program, the unwavering support of their families and friends also played an important role.

Many attended the graduation ceremony, proudly cheering on their loved ones, with more than a few tears shed as they celebrated this significant milestone together.

“This course has given us the opportunity to showcase what can be achieved through collaboration, and the passion we share for helping young people achieve their goals. It’s been incredibly rewarding for all of us to watch them blossom,” Lydia, Site Lead, said.
