Bamara Training recently facilitated a highly successful cultural awareness training hosted on the lands of the Darug and Gundungarra people. This training was commissioned by Penrith City Council in response to community feedback about the need for this training.

This interactive workshop drew a strong turnout from community groups and organisations across the Penrith LGA with a training program designed for participants to strengthen their understanding and appreciation of First Nations culture, traditions, customs, and protocols.

Presented by Jamie-Lee Lalic, a proud Bundjalung woman, her extensive knowledge and passion for cultural education created an engaging and dynamic atmosphere. Participants asked questions to deepen their understanding of cultural safety in the workplace and broader community.

Our First Nations team also contributed invaluable insights, sharing their lived experiences and fostering discussions on topics relevant to participants.

The training emphasised the importance of respecting First Nations perspectives when planning projects or service delivery. It covered a broad range of subjects, supported by a booklet empowering attendees to incorporate these insights into their own lives

The success of this Cultural Awareness Training session lays a solid foundation for future workshops and events across Australia.

Cultural Awareness Training aims to empower our participants, foster meaningful engagement, and encourage the sharing of knowledge based on respect and understanding.
