Getting to know our team with Nenad

Nenad has navigated a path defined by strength, resilience, and courage, reshaping his life and igniting a drive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disability. 

Nenad grew up in Dapto, NSW, before moving to Huntley at 18, exploring several physically demanding trades, including carpentry, labouring, and electrical work. 

At 22 years-old, Nenad experienced a life-changing workplace accident that resulted in the loss of his left leg.  

Following this accident were years of physiotherapy, surgeries, and a barrage of physical and emotional hurdles – but through it all, Nenad refused to give up. 

“That experience shaped me into the person I am today: resilient, empathetic, and driven to make a difference,” Nenad said.

With the support of family, friends, and professionals, he transformed his life-altering accident into a source of inspiration. 

His perspective shifted, sparking a passion to advocate for people living with disability, to empower them to build confidence, achieve meaningful and lasting employment, and become the best version of themselves.

“I believe in creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and showing what’s possible when you don’t stop believing in yourself,” Nenad said. 

Today, he’s one of Bamara’s dedicated Inclusive Employment Australia Mentors in the Wollongong region. 

Nenad uses his own story to help motivate participants facing their own challenges, encouraging the mindset that if you put the time and work in, you can do anything.  

He also understands first-hand the impact that having the right support can have on an individual and works hard to ensure that his participants have a circle of support that provide motivation and guidance to keep you moving forward – just as he had during his own journey. 

Through his work, Nenad continues to transform lives, showing how determination, support, and belief in oneself can create opportunities, break barriers, and inspire lasting change.
