Born and raised on the South Coast of New South Wales, Tori takes great pride in the community she still calls home, with a deep understanding of the local area and the people within it.
Along the way, resilience, empathy and a genuine ability to listen have become some of Tori’s greatest strengths. Shaped by her own journey through life, she has found purpose in helping others thrive alongside her.
“When someone is genuinely happy to see you, takes the time to have a chat, and builds that rapport with you, it can make all the difference,” Tori said.
“One smile can mean so much. It’s not just about finding you a job, it’s about working with you, and supporting you every step of the way.”
Having sat on both sides of the desk, Tori brings a unique perspective to her role as a Bamara Inclusive Employment Australia Mentor in Nowra, NSW.
As a former participant of employment services, she understands firsthand the challenges and barriers participants face, and the life-changing difference the right support, encouragement and belief can make.
“My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where participants are heard, respected and empowered,” Tori said.
“When participants realise, they’re being listened to and supported without judgement, that’s when real progress begins.”
Raised by a father who owned his own business and a mother who dedicated her career to caring for people in aged care, Tori developed a deep appreciation for hard work, compassion, showing up for others, and a natural knack for connecting with people.
She also draws inspiration and strength of her grandmother, who emigrated to Australia from Lithuania after World War II. Her grandmother’s journey taught her the importance of perseverance, resilience and embracing new opportunities.
“The experiences I’ve had throughout life have shaped who I am and has given me skills I can bring into this role,” Tori said.
“You learn from every experience, even the difficult ones. I always try to focus on the silver linings and look for the opportunities to grow.”
Tori is as bubbly as they come, bringing an infectious smile, warmth, positivity and genuine care to every interaction. From the moment participants meet her, she helps them feel comfortable, supported and confident.
Whether it’s sharing a laugh, celebrating the small wins or simply being there to listen, she’s passionate about helping people believe in themselves and take the next step towards their goals.
“Through my own lived experience of mental health, I know how important the right support is,” Tori said.
“I think of it like a room with a door, if you keep looking and have the right people beside you, you’ll find a way through.”
