As a mother, Danielle understands the transformative power of taking time for yourself and your overall well-being.
When she started her business, Hunter Valley Cryotherapy, with the help of Bamara, she set out to give her clients the pampering they deserve, with flexible options for mothers like herself.
Danielle first connected with Bamara in October 2022 through the ParentsNext program, with the primary goal of getting her business off the ground.
She had moved to the Hunter Valley from the Central Coast, bringing a background in hairdressing, a passion for beauty, and her six-month-old son.
After having her child and needing to return to the workforce, she wanted to start fresh with the work she loves. She also wanted to find a workplace that accommodated for her and her son.
For Danielle, there was only one clear path: she would be her own boss.
Initially, she invested time researching and trying out different beauty treatments to find what worked most effectively before sharing her knowledge with friends and family through free treatments to get her started.
She was particularly fascinated by cryotherapy treatments, a cutting-edge hair treatment that isn’t commonly found in typical salons. Danielle immersed herself in studying the technique and equipment to specialise in this innovative treatment.
Danielle had all the training, expert knowledge, and passion to run a successful business; all she needed was funding and a helping hand.
She and ParentsNext Support Mentor Lisa from our Cessnock team worked together to evaluate everything she would need to run her business successfully.
Lisa was there to provide endless support and encouragement to Danielle and help reimburse her for hair basins, towels, cape, salon trolley, and swivel stool chair. Lisa also assisted her with the more technical aspects of the business, such as ABN registration, public liability insurance, and starting up her website so she could start marketing her business services.
“Lisa was incredible. It felt like she actually cared. I appreciate her for more than anything,” Danielle said.
When Danielle got her first two clients, she celebrated with Lisa over the phone. It was a milestone that indicated her hard work to get the business going, and Lisa couldn’t have been happier.
Owning a business meant she could accommodate not only herself and her son but also her clients who may have similar circumstances.
She offers flexible appointment times and has created an open, child and baby-friendly environment so her clients don’t have to sacrifice more than they need just to get some pampering.
Today, her business has thrived for approximately six months and is the only Hair Cryotherapy salon in the Hunter Valley. What she loves the most is seeing people walk out happy with their experience with her and seeing the results that she works hard to create.
