Gwen embodies what it means to be a hard worker – motivated, adaptable, and ready to take on any opportunity. With consistent support along the way, she secured a role where she can grow and thrive.
In October 2025, she connected with our team in Thuringowa through Workforce Australia Services.
Her Job Mentor, Robyn, was immediately impressed by Gwen’s drive. She was determined not just to help Gwen find a job, but to find a sustainable job suited to her strengths.
“I’m proud that she didn’t give up, she just kept going. She’s had a few hurdles, but that didn’t stop her from finding a job she loves,” Robyn said.
Building on Gwen’s previous experience, Robyn supported her in exploring cleaning roles while also helping her refresh her resume and prepare for work.
Through the Employment fund, Robyn was able to cover the cost of essential items, including work shoes, pants, and a new phone to support her job search, as well as fuel vouchers.
Over time, the two have built a strong rapport. Robyn created a supportive space where Gwen felt comfortable reaching out, whether she needed practical help or simply someone to talk to.
As she got to know Gwen better, Robyn refined the job search to focus on nearby cleaning roles that would offer a healthy work-life balance for Gwen and her family.
She also connected Gwen with local businesses and encouraged her to take a proactive approach by dropping off her resume in person and following up opportunities directly.
Before long, the right opportunity came along, aligning perfectly with Gwen’s skills and goals.
With Robyn’s support, Gwen applied online and followed up in person. It wasn’t long before she received the good news: she had secured the role!
As of February 2026, Gwen is working full-time as a cleaner at a hotel. She’s supported by a welcoming team, enjoys a positive workplace culture, and has opportunities to grow and even work at other sites across the country if she chooses.
Robyn continues to provide ongoing support as Gwen settles into her role, ensuring she has everything she needs to succeed.
“I’m grateful for having a deadly Mentor,” Gwen said.
