Leone thriving in new career as a Yard Labourer 

Leone has always known she wasn’t made for a desk job. Working on her feet in the fresh air and sunshine was certain to be more her speed.

Leone connected with our Narrabri team through Parent Pathways in December 2024, seeking support to pursue employment and training opportunities.

Working alongside her Support Mentor, Kerry, they created a Goal Plan to gain the tickets and licences needed for outdoor work.

Through the Parent Pathways Engagement Fund, Leone completed Working at Heights, Forklift and Welding training, building the qualifications needed for her chosen career.

As she progressed through her training, she built a strong rapport with her Support Mentor, Kerry, through regular catch-ups and yarns.

In January 2026, Leone had found an opportunity that aligned perfectly with her skills and aspirations, and after taking the initiative to apply, she was successful in securing a position as a Yard Labourer with North West Ag and Diesel.

Kerry has provided Leone with tools and a toolbox to prepare her for her new job and has been providing post-placement support as Leone settles into the role.

Now, in September 2026, after nine months in the job, Kerry has noticed a positive shift in Leone, with her clear joy and pride in her job easy to see.

“When she comes in, her hands are black from working, and she’s genuinely happy. The difference is obvious – you can see it in her smile,” Kerry said.
