Rosemarie discovered Bamara at an Employer Expo approximately six months before she first connected. She met Support Mentor and Regional Manager Steven, who took the time to explain her options, answer her questions, and point her in the right direction towards her goals.

When the time came for Rosemarie to begin to pursue her goals, remembering that warm introduction from Steven, she reached out to our Parent Pathways team for support.

Rosemarie connected with our Mount Isa team in February 2026 through the Parent Pathways service, ready to forge a career in the mining industry.

Working alongside Steven, they created a Goal Plan to map out all of the training and qualifications needed to get her started.

To support her goal, Steven assisted her in applying for the JobSeeker Grant to fund the training required to gain industry-relevant qualifications and improve her employment prospects.

In February 2026, her application was approved, and she enrolled into the Civil Construction Training program, a tailored program delivered by Martyr Training Services.

The program was catered to provide Rosemarie with all of the required training and qualifications to give her the skills, knowledge and experience needed to thrive in the mining industry.

The items included in the tailored training package were:

  • Fire Safety
  • First Aid
  • CPR
  • Manual Handling
  • Work in accordance with an issued permit
  • Working at Heights
  • Confined Spaces
  • Forklift Licence
  • Medium Rigid Licence

By the end of the program, Rosemarie has built a strong foundation of practical skills and formal qualifications across multiple areas of the mining industry.

“I’m extremely proud of myself for achieving all of this while raising my kids and rebuilding our life. These qualifications have opened doors I didn’t think were possible,” Rosemarie said.

The Bamara team is proud to have supported her journey so far and looks forward to continuing to work alongside her as she takes the next step towards employment.
