Your journey matters

At Bamara, we believe every parent and carer deserves the opportunity to plan their future with confidence.

Whether you want to return to work, start studying, or simply explore what’s next, our Parent Pathways service is here to walk with you.

And at the heart of this support is our team of dedicated Support Mentors.

Parent Pathways is a free, voluntary, and flexible service available to eligible parents and carers of children under six.

It offers personalised mentoring, financial assistance, and access to resources that help you work towards your goals. What makes the difference, though, is the people behind it.

What does a Support Mentor do?

Our Support Mentors do more than give advice or tick off checklists.

They’re trusted guides who take the time to get to know you, your family, and your goals. They listen without judgment, help identify barriers, and create a clear Goal Plan that makes the path forward feel manageable.

They offer ongoing support that includes:

  • One-on-one mentoring, designed around your life.
  • Finding and helping you keep a job.
  • Help exploring study or training options.
  • Guidance on building your skills and confidence.
  • Access to financial support for things like transport, enrolment fees for a qualification, a laptop for study, and workwear.
  • Regular check-ins to help you stay motivated and on track.

“I never owned a laptop; there is no reason you can’t study without Bamara under your wing.”

More than just mentoring

Through Parent Pathways, your mentor can also help you access practical support, including:

  • Driving lessons and licence fees.
  • Training and study costs.
  • Work uniforms, safety gear, and tools.
  • Accessing services in your community, including childcare and counselling
  • Engagement Support Vouchers to cover essentials like groceries and petrol.

This support helps remove the financial pressure that can stop you from taking the next step.

“My mentors are really cool; they’ve been helpful, understanding, and made me feel welcome. They go above and beyond for me, which is awesome.”

Tailored support, real outcomes

Every Parent Pathways participant has a different story. That’s why our Support Mentors adapt their support to suit you.

For some, it’s about building confidence after time away from work.

For others, it might be finding the right course or figuring out how to balance work and parenting.

What all of our mentors have in common is a deep commitment to helping you succeed in a way that feels achievable and sustainable.

We know that raising a young family comes with challenges, and we’re here to help you move forward at your own pace.

“I’m glad I came across Bamara, I’m now doing something that I love and passionate about.”
