Our NDIS Hubs have been buzzing with activity lately! From arts & crafts, to NAIDOC celebrations, to our annual and highly anticipated Footy Colours Day – here are some of the highlights of the exciting activities from the month of September.
Making your own warm blankets has never been easier. Participants chose two fabrics of their choice with our support workers, and by cutting strips of fabric and tying them together, they made many beautiful blankets to take home.
The week of 16 September, the team got involved in NAIDOC celebrations and activities in Wellington.
The week kicked off with the team participating in the curry cook off organised by QUIT B FIT and Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service , where we victoriously claimed 1st place!!! The day also consisted of bingo, trivia, and the participants Angelica and Jackson painting a NAIDOC themed artwork.
Then, they headed to Nanima Mission, where we kept up our winning streak by winning a leg of lamb AND a meat voucher from the raffle
Finally, on Friday the team spent the day at the Wellington Community NAIDOC Day, which was a great opportunity to mingle with the community.
Makeovers are for everyone – participants and staff alike! Everyone got involved in getting glammed up with a new set of painted nails.
Whether it’s a trip to a local park, a river walk, or a day out fishing with the brand-new fishing rods – the team and participants have relished every opportunity to soak up the sun and warmer weather.
BBQ lunches are always a treat, and they are made even better when participants are keen to jump on and cook up an incredible feed for everyone at the Hub.
With all the excitement of both the Olympic and Paralympic games in Paris, participants worked together to create a beautiful Olympic mural, adorned in flags from all around the world, the Olympic rings, and the Olympic flame.
Today, 27 September, the team at Bamara wore their best footy gear to celebrate Footy Colours Day! Bamara participates in Footy Colours Day each year to raise funds for the Fight Cancer Foundation.
Our Dubbo Hub really got in the spirit, showing up to rep their favourite teams. What a great way to end this exciting month of activities at the Hub!
