Get to know the Bamara team as we introduce you to Simone, our Support Coordinator based in Dubbo.
Simone is an important part of the Bamara Care team, helping participants to make the most of their plans by connecting them to services and local support.
We recently asked Simone a few questions to get to know her a bit better.
My name is Simone and I have been in the disability industry for about five years now. My job is designed to help NDIS participants make the most of their plans. Once a plan has been approved, participants can get assistance from Support Coordination to help them connect with services or mainstream support.
I have 5 kids- from 14 down to 1 year old twins, so don’t get too much spare time! But I love restoring old furniture and cooking.
Dedicated, supportive, determined.
Disability is something that was in my family, so it was always a part of my life growing up. As I got older, I made the decision to work in disability support. Through years of working in this industry I saw how hard it was for some participants to link themselves to different supports, so decided to help participants in a different way.
At Bamara in Dubbo we offer day programs, in home care, respite, support coordination, NDIS driving schools and much more for our NDIS clients group supports.
My typical day starts by checking all my emails and catching up on what was missed the day before. I follow up contact with clients or their families, make sure all NDIS paperwork is completed and submitted, and liaise with different allied professionals that support our clients.
The staff and clients. Going into the office and working with the people I work with is amazing. The staff are very supportive and beautiful people.
With Bamara I have learned a lot from the people I work with. Bamara is also helping me work towards a business degree.
If you don’t ask, the answer will always be no.
If you love what you do, it won’t be a day of work in your life.
Do it. Some days are stressful but it’s all worth it in the end to see the difference you can make in someone’s life and watch them smash out their goals.
