Over the weekend, nine participants and seven of our Bamara Care team visited Sydney to catch the Parramatta Eels verse the Bulldogs in an action-packed game.

Here at Bamara Care we have a wide range of Community Participation programs and activities available.

The team organised this visit for participants primarily to soak in the buzz and atmosphere of a live rugby league match, including all the match-day action.

Over two nights and three days, this trip got participants in and amongst the big city with an exciting schedule. Staying at a city hotel located right by the harbour the group arrived on Friday and celebrated their arrival with a group dinner at Bondi Pizza.

The excitement was building up at this stage for the footy, complete with jerseys, scarves, and plenty of blue and gold on show. Then it was time to head out to CommBank Stadium for the big game. Attending in full support for the Parramatta Eels, the participants and team were given a show, enjoying the cheers and excitement, and watching their team taking out the competition 42-6.

The game even saw Bamara Aboriginal Business Owner, David Liddiard OAM, attend for a Parramatta Eels reunion, meeting with attendees, participants and his former teammates. Participants also got the chance to meet footy heroes Ray Price and Brett Kenny, amongst other big players, for a chat, photos, and some jersey signatures.

After a big night out, our group spent the Sunday with a laid-back morning of shopping and sightseeing before packing up and heading back home with some lasting memories.

With some participants revisiting Sydney after our recent trip for the VIVID festival and others experiencing the city for the first time, there was plenty to explore for everyone. All nine participants were ecstatic to have attended the game, sharing how much fun it was to join in on the game’s festivities and get out for the weekend.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to planning our weekend, and especially to our support team, David Liddiard and Parramatta Eels players, for making this trip one to remember.

The participants had a blast and can’t wait to come back for another game soon.
